Forgiving and Forgiven
April 30, 2017

Matthew 18:21-22

Peter asked Jesus if he should forgive others’ mistakes seven times, and Jesus said, “No, seventy times seven.” In other words, there should be no limit to our forgiveness.

When you think of all the horrible things people do to others, does such a level of forgiveness astound you? Maybe so. But have you ever stopped to realize God would not ask you to do something He Himself is not willing to do? Have you ever realized that this is the kind of forgiveness He shows to you?

If you’ve made mistakes, even crazy-awful ones, good news: God is not struggling to find it within Himself to forgive you. Once you repent, no matter what horrible things you may have done, God’s forgiveness is immediately available. The important thing is that you decide it’s time for a change, get back on your feet, and walk on toward everlasting life.

Pray: God, I’m thankful for Your forgiveness. I know I don’t deserve it, and I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for what You’ve done for me. Allow me to realize the astounding volume of grace You’ve extended to me. As I begin to understand your grace, help me become readily willing to extend grace to those who hurt me.
