Depression

February 8th, 2017

Psalm 43:5; John 16:33

Being a child of God doesn’t mean you’re granted a life of bliss; that’s what Heaven is for! If you sometimes experience depression and inner turmoil, you’re in good company. Godly men such as David, Jeremiah, Elijah, and Job all went through times when they thought they’d be better off dead. But their stories don’t end there, and neither will yours!

God knows where you are. Jesus Himself promised we’d have trouble in this world. Whether it’s family issues or stressors at school . . . peer pressure or conflicts with others . . .guy-girl problems or a broken heart (just to graze the surface of the list!) . . . there are plenty of things that can bring us down. Thankfully, we can know we have hope in Jesus. Not only is He bigger than any situation life might toss your way, the eternal life He offers is your assurance that you will someday know endless joy.

Pray: Jesus, I know that through the power of Your Holy Spirit, I can experience joy that defies logic. When I feel down, with or without cause, I know the answer is to draw close to You. I love You, I need You, and I will forever praise You, my Savior and my God.
