It seems like a no-brainer to choose eternal treasure in heaven over fleeting treasure on earth. But what about all the times Jesus actually does come knocking on our door – the door to our heart – and asks us to throw away some possessions we’re holding too tightly?

Do those who know you see you as a true example of Jesus Christ, or are you just one of the crowd, blending in unnoticed? Have you compromised your beliefs so much that God finds it impossible to use you? Be aware of the impact your surroundings have on you.

Yet how often does God try to deliver us from a hazardous situation, but we are too stuck in our ways to obey? Can we leave an ungodly life even if it means abandoning our earthly titles and possessions? The acknowledgement and satisfaction we may get from anything on earth is only temporary. But the choice of whether or not we submit to God’s will has an eternal impact.

They will reveal an opportunity to either value the miracle or emphasize the loss - to push Jesus away or invite Him nearer. In those moments, what it really comes down to is this: Would you rather have Jesus leave you than finish His work?

When He sends a request that leads to a seemingly bleak situation, we should trust that every act of obedience will be covered with peace and blessings in return. And even if they’re not, He is still worthy of any and every sacrifice we can give.

Whatever He has promised will come to pass - it may not be how or when we expect, but we can be sure that He will lead us through the process to our “palace” in the most divine way.

Do we display a thankful spirit, or do we constantly complain about things? Dissatisfaction comes when our attention shifts from our blessings to our voids.

This may not always be the most appealing path, and it may not always get you the answer you want. But at the end of the day - at the end of your LIFE - what’s more important? Virtue or vanity?
