All or Nothing

We all would like to think that if Jesus came knocking on our front door and asked us to leave everything to follow Him, we’d do it without any hesitation. It seems like a no-brainer to choose eternal treasure in heaven over fleeting treasure on earth. But what about all the times Jesus actually does come knocking on our door – the door to our heart – and asks us to throw away some possessions we’re holding too tightly?

As you strive to be a light in your city, ask yourself these questions: Have you left what is good in order to chase a trivial temptation? Do those who know you see you as a true example of Jesus Christ, or are you just one of the crowd, blending in unnoticed? Have you compromised your beliefs so much that God finds it impossible to use you? Be aware of the impact your surroundings have on you.

Lessons From Lot Part 1

It seems so ridiculous that Lot would refuse rescue from the Lord because of something so trivial. Yet how often does God try to deliver us from a hazardous situation, but we are too stuck in our ways to obey? Can we leave an ungodly life even if it means abandoning our earthly titles and possessions? The acknowledgement and satisfaction we may get from anything on earth is only temporary. But the choice of whether or not we submit to God’s will has an eternal impact.

Displaced Priorities

There will be situations in our lives that will give us the chance to analyze where we truly place our priorities. They will reveal an opportunity to either value the miracle or emphasize the loss - to push Jesus away or invite Him nearer. In those moments, what it really comes down to is this: Would you rather have Jesus leave you than finish His work?

God With Us

Of all the marvelous gifts being given and received this Christmas season, Jesus Christ’s sacrifice was the most valuable gift ever known. Let’s not neglect the true reason for why we come together to celebrate this time… It is because of His selfless love that we have breath in our lungs and hope in our hearts!

But because he was a good man, Joseph laid aside his rights. He wanted to spare Mary the humiliation and death sentence by quietly parting ways with her. He was doing what society told him was the proper choice, while still showing grace.

Mary

Mary’s humble and submissive spirit teaches that it’s important to offer your life to God without asking to see the bottom line. When He sends a request that leads to a seemingly bleak situation, we should trust that every act of obedience will be covered with peace and blessings in return. And even if they’re not, He is still worthy of any and every sacrifice we can give.

The Process to the Palace

Our own plans will never look like God’s plans. But God NEVER fails and His word is ALWAYS true. Whatever He has promised will come to pass - it may not be how or when we expect, but we can be sure that He will lead us through the process to our “palace” in the most divine way.

Are we grateful for what God has given us, or are we always thinking about something else we wish we had? Do we display a thankful spirit, or do we constantly complain about things? Dissatisfaction comes when our attention shifts from our blessings to our voids.

Virtue Over Vanity

If you make God’s opinion the only one that truly counts, you’re taking a path of virtue - behavior of righteous moral standards. This may not always be the most appealing path, and it may not always get you the answer you want. But at the end of the day - at the end of your LIFE - what’s more important? Virtue or vanity?
